Dave's small home Cabin
Donation protected
My name is Dave,
I have been battling pancreatic cancer for 2.5 years now and living part time in my partners home. In the last two years I have had to stop working, I had two major surgeries, including a Whipple, I have had 23 rounds of chemo, I am constantly at the doctors, oncologists, or now with the palliative care team, and nothing is getting is easier. I am seeking now more complimentary alternative treatments, as chemotherapy is no longer working on my tumour, things are very hard on the people around me. I am seeking a small private home base to continue treatments, if or when I can, I need this more than anything, as sickness does not rest, it's messy, it over takes peoples homes and lives and the people I love should not have to endure what I must, simply put, slow death I believe is a private and personal journey, all I need is a view and local trained nurses as required.
This go fund me page is to raise funds to build a very small home overlooking my spring fed dam on my property I own in central Victoria this Spring/Summer 2024.
This will be a home for myself, during this next year of treatments, for better or worse, a place that I can use to give the much needed respite to the people around me, and where I will endure and recover more on going treatments I may have. Or if I refuse any more treatments, It’s the place I want as my final resting place .
WHO’S DOING IT
I have several qualified trades people friends ready to give up their time and skills to help me do this work quickly. We are owner building a cheap, warm, transportable, self sustaining Granny flat, 6 x 3.5 m which runs on 12v caravan style lighting, and solid fuel heating, with modern composting toilet, all the costing are done , and as the labour is free we can do this project fast and cheap, this is why I am only asking a small amount.
WHY NOW
There is an urgency in this project, as I have stopped having chemo now after 23 rounds in the hope that my body can recover some strength, and it is also to get the pain managed by the palliative care team. Right now I do have some energy, all though I am very skinny, to help support the workers on this small project, but I don't have the funds. It's important that I do this now as my tumour is growing again and no one can say how much time I really have, this spring /summer may be my only opportunity.
I am not seeking a lot of money, just enough to get the main items we can't make, the windows and doors, the wood fire, water tank and pump, small solar system for lights, some kitchen cabinets, the rest we will find and seek local suppliers generosity. Any thing you give is greatly appreciated, and I will post many photos of the project as it gets done. Thank you.
