This go fund me is to help one of our instructors, Chris Van Cleave and his family, to help cover the expenses of his father, Dave Joe Van Cleave’s, funeral and medical costs for his mother, Michelle Van Cleave.
On Wednesday June 22nd, 2022, Dave and Michelle were celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary canoeing at Sweetwater Lake in Garfield County Colorado. Their Canoe capsized and although they were wearing life vests, they had trouble exiting the water due to sheer rock walls around the shore. Michelle got herself out of the water, but Dave had advanced Parkinson’s disease and they were unable to get him out of the water. Michelle was weak and forced to spend the night on the cliff she climbed up. The next morning around 11:30, she was found by a group called Epic Experience that took a cancer survivor on a fishing trip that morning. They heard Michelle’s cries for help, and rescued her, as well as located and retrieved Dave’s body.
Michelle spent 3 days in the hospital and has now recovered and is back at home with her family.
Dave is survived by his wife Michelle Van Cleave, daughter Lorin Van Cleave, sons Nathan and Christopher Van Cleave, and his siblings Steve, Connie, and Stan.
Chris has been an Instructor at School of Rock Boulder for almost a year, but Amanda I have known him personally, each for over 15 years. He was the drummer in my band and has been one of our closest friends for a very long time. Deniz has known him for over 8 years, and Chris has helped us before at Broomfield as an instructor years ago. He joined School of Rock Boulder as a favor to us and has quickly established a dedicated block of students on drums, guitar, and bass.
Thank you everyone for your time and for looking at this; anything and everything helps.
