Dave Rishel's Road to Recovery

On Friday, April 7th our dear friend, father, brother, husband, and son Dave Rishel (38) went to a Cardiology Appointment in an attempt to understand the cause of recent chest pains. Within a few hours, Dave was being medevac’d to Lankenau Hospital, bound for an emergency life-saving 10-hour Open Heart Surgery. Unbeknownst to any of us Dave, a father of 3 young children, has suffered from an Aortic Dissection, a serious condition in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the body’s main aortic artery. If not found and fixed this condition is very likely fatal.

As anyone who has met Dave can attest, he is unnaturally generous with his time in support of others. While the surgery was successful and Dave has started his long road to recovery, the financial burden that has now been placed on Dave and Amber related to this ordeal is immense. Dave will be unable to work for an extended period of time and future-term prospects, while optimistic, are unknown.
