Dave Rector has terminal cancer and his family could use your help.

If this is how you’re finding out about this news, we’re sorry. Things moved fast. Too fast. Too fast to plan, too fast to get affairs in order, too fast to tell everyone personally, too fast to say enough goodbyes.

 

As Dave lives out his last days, there are going to be a lot of things to settle, bills to pay, and unexpected expenses - medical and otherwise. Any donations are greatly appreciated by Dave’s family as they navigate this process.

 

Those that know him know there aren’t enough words to encapsulate the joy Dave brings everyone around him.

 

He is a husband, a son, a brother, a friend. In all these roles, first and foremost, he is selfless. No matter what, when, or where - Dave is there with no questions asked. He loves hard, harder than most. His favorite holiday is the fourth of July. Seriously, there is nothing more American than Dave on the 4th of July. He likes trucks, hunting, fishing, tattoos, country music, and, for some reason, olympic curling.

 

He means so much to so many. He’s a light in every room he walks into. His humor is infectious. His laugh is contagious. If he ever tells you a story, you’ll be out 2 hours, but you’ll be thoroughly entertained. He is a walking, talking, jeep-driving good time. He is the warmest, most loyal, most generous, most supportive, most fun person you will ever meet in your life.

 

He will be missed. And this sucks. It’s not fair. Not to him. Not to us. No two ways about it.

 

But, because it’s Dave, his last days and all the days after will have more laughs than tears. The memories, stories and presence he brought into our lives will live long after we lay him to rest. That’s how big “Big Dave” is. That’s how much he means.

Right now is the kind of time where we all need to share some of that light Dave brought us.

So that’s what we’re gonna do.
