Update as of April 25, 2022

Greetings to all of you who have been following Dave's journey and have provided encouragement, prayers, and financial support.  As you may notice from the new picture we've posted to the site Dave is home and recovering following his treatment at the Sanoviv Center.  You may also notice that the Powells have a new addition to the family (Nellie) to keep Dave company as he continues on the road to recovery.   I could try to give you an update but I'd prefer you hear the good news directly from Dave in the message below.

While Dave is making great progress I want to ask you to continue to offer the same encouragement, prayers, and if possible, financial support to the family.  I'd also ask that you share Dave's story with others and encourage them to participate in any way they can as he walks out this season of his life.

Thank you again for everything you have done over the past several weeks to help sustain the family and bring them along through this journey.

Blessings to you all,

Scott

Hello GoFundMe Team:

Hello everyone. It’s been almost a week since I have been home. It’s so good to be back. I so much missed my beautiful bride, our children, other family members, and of course friends.

My time at Sanoviv was an amazing experience. But when it was time to leave and come home, I was definitely ready.

The entire staff at Sanoviv from doctors, nurses, technicians, dentists, chiropractors, psychologists, mind-body support, massage therapists, financial, customer service, to kitchen staff were so compassionate and caring. I felt like I was the only one there and they were all concentrating on my well-being. From the list of professions above, you can see that Sanoviv is truly a full functional medical facility. The therapies are state of the art and effective. I would recommend Sanoviv to anyone needing to address a range of health issues. Their specialty of course is cancer treatment and Lyme disease.

My final exit meeting with my oncologist, MD, and aftercare MD was positive. I still have some issues, but the biggest news was that the metastasized tumors have shrunk meaning they responded favorably to the treatments and therapies and should continue to do so in my aftercare of supplements and medications.

My enlarged prostate has shrunk allowing me to go more on my own and less daily catheterization. My PSA has dropped 55%. Many of my blood indicators and numbers improved. I will be doing another blood count test with my local MD in about a month and will send those results to Sanoviv as part of my aftercare for their diagnosis.

I am still not at full energy levels. I know that will take some time as things progress. My legs tire easily, so I had Teresa find me an old man wheeled stroller for longer walks. I can walk around the house and yard with the senior shuffle just fine. I of course am on a fairly restrictive diet. However, the nutritionist at Sanoviv directed me to a cookbook dedicated for cancer patients. The recipes are varied from salads to soups to desserts with dinners in between. Guess I’ll be in the kitchen a little more now learning culinary art.

I want to thank everyone that supported me financially on the Go Fund Me page (thank you Scott Beltz for coordinating that) and those of you that chose to give directly to us. And thank you for the many prayers that went heavenward on my behalf. I know they were heard by the Creator of the universe. I do serve a mighty and powerful God. One who is Holy and Righteous in all His ways. He is my Redeemer and Healer. One who loves me with an everlasting love.

In fact, He woke me at 3 am on April 13th to remind me of that Truth. I finally stepped out of my cave and into His glorious Light. It was truly a mountain top experience – one I will never forget and is difficult to actually put into words. Suffice it to say I cried for over an hour as I basked in the Presence of His Glory.

So bottom line I am doing and feeling better than when I left here. I know it is still a process. The Lord actually showed me in a vision a couple of days ago that in this battle, the victory is mine. He had me watch a battle unfolding and asked if anything stood out. I said no, and then He directed my vision to a particular person. This man’s foe lay on the ground around him as he stood there, sword in hand, in a victory pose. He told me that is you, my son. This warrior looked nothing like me, to me, but then I realized that is how He sees me. There is victory thru His strength and power that flows thru me as well.

Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers. They do avail much.

BTW in the newest picture, I would like to introduce to you the newest member of my family – Nellie.

The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD  lift up His countenance upon you, And give you Shalom (peace).
