Dave Needs Our Help: Surgery at Mayo Clinic
Donation protected
Dave was diagnosed with Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome back in 2015. It is a very rare disorder that affects the skin and lungs.
It creates cysts in the lungs and an abnormal accumulation of air in the chest cavity, creating pneumothoraxes.
Dave has had quite a few of these pneumothoraxes since 2007. In 2015, we were finally referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dave had a pleurodesis surgery on his right lung. All has been great since.
Bring us to April 2025. Dave had a pneumothorax on his right lung. We spent a couple of days in the Trinity ER with a chest tube and then were flown to Mayo in hopes of having the pleurodesis surgery on his right lung. We were sent home without the surgery and are now going back Tuesday, April 15, and having surgery done on Thursday, April 17.
We have appreciated all thoughts and prayers we have received so far. This will help us greatly with our hospital, hotel, and transportation costs.
Thank you all so much!
