Dave Mika was the kind of man people never forget.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dave Mika, who left this world far too soon at just 52 years old.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Trina Mika, along with a wide circle of family and friends who were deeply blessed to know and love him.
Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Dave lived a life defined by service, strength, and heart. He was a decorated soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces and later built a successful career in management in Canada’s oil industry. In recent years, Dave and Trina made their home in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where they found their little piece of paradise. Together, they built a beautiful life and a strong, loving community of friends — adding to the lifelong bonds Dave already carried from his military years and his roots in Canada.
Dave was authentic, fun-loving, and deeply compassionate. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help a friend or family member in need. He had a way of making people feel welcome, supported, and cared for. His presence brought laughter, comfort, and strength to those around him, and his loss leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
This fundraiser is being created to support Trina during this incredibly difficult time and to help ease the financial burden that comes with such a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
In addition to the pain of losing Dave, Trina is feeling overwhelmed because she and Dave had recently gone through an emergency surgery that left them with significant medical debt. Those expenses still need to be paid, and now, without Dave’s income, Trina is facing the heavy burden of trying to cover that debt while also figuring out how to move forward and support herself.
The goal of this fundraiser is to help give Trina some breathing room — to reduce the immediate financial pressure, help her stay on her feet, and allow her space to grieve without the constant added stress of how she will survive while paying off this debt.
If you knew Dave, you knew a truly remarkable man. If you didn’t have the honor of knowing him, please know that your support — whether through a donation or by sharing this page — means more than words can express.
Dave’s legacy of love, loyalty, and kindness will live on through every life he touched.
May he rest in peace. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
