Friends and family are gathering around to help the Ramsey family in their time of need.

Dave was diagnosed with heart failure in May and unfortunately his health has continued to decline . Through a multitude of testing required to be considered for a heart transplant it was discovered that he has AL amyloidosis which is not a curable disease. The condition causes a clumping of proteins that attach to organ muscles such as the heart, kidney and liver. Without treatment the prognosis is 3-6 months. The management is with chemotherapy. At this time they are trying to manage his heart failure, get him strong enough so he can tolerate the treatment and then hopefully be considered for heart transplant. He is requiring frequent hospitalizations at KU for IV heart meds and for management of fluid buildup as a result of the failure. He will likely be having a bone marrow biopsy as well to help guide treatment. He is on a restricted diet and with the frequent hospitalizations at KU a meal train wouldn't be helpful at this time. They are asking for lots of prayers and to keep them close in your hearts. We all know that the financial stress of this is significant and are thankful to anyone who is in a position to help with this through a donation as well.
