Help Dave & Linda Navigate Medical Adversity

Hello, we are the family of Dave and Linda Touye. It still feels surreal to say this, but on Friday, May 9th, Dave suffered a major stroke, leaving him severely incapacitated. As if that wasn't bad enough, a rare form of vasculitis also made it too risky for Dave to undergo any of the standard surgical procedures typically used to address a stroke of this nature. At this point, Dave is still in the ICU fighting hard to stabilize so he can begin the long road to recovery via intensive inpatient rehab. To say that we are devastated is a gross understatement.

Anyone who knows Dave would tell you how vibrant, witty, charming, and fun he is. A lover of life, travel, margaritas, and laughter, it is extremely hard to see him this way. Beyond the emotional impact of the situation, it also spawns dozens of unforeseen logistical and financial burdens. With Dave now unable to work, he and Linda face a significant loss of income. Dave followed his job to Austin, and while he and Linda were really starting to embrace their life in Texas, it's added a great distance between them and their support network. This has forced Linda to also step away from her job in order to be by Dave’s side at the hospital, providing him with the care and emotional support he needs during this time. This precarious financial situation comes at the exact same time that the extremely costly medical bills are starting to pile up.

What We Are Asking For:

We’re reaching out to ask for your generosity to help cover some of their immediate needs during this challenging time. Specifically, we are hoping to raise funds to cover:

• Dave’s medical co-pay maximum to ensure his treatment isn’t delayed.

• Dave’s lost wages to help cover basic living expenses while he is unable to work.

• Linda’s lost wages, as she has been unable to work while caring for Dave.

• Dog walking and dog-sitting services while Linda is at the hospital with Dave, which is an essential part of keeping their pets cared for and happy during this tough time.
