Hello, my name is Atticus Jackson, and my father has been going through some really tough times lately. After being diagnosed with liver cancer, he made it his personal journey to help others that have been on a similar path. Actually, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't even fully approve of me making this Gofundme for him because he just doesn't believe in receiving something for nothing. He would definitely want to make sure he could give back somehow.
He's always been the epitome of the Mr. Roger's quote "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." He took his scary diagnosis and turned it into something positive for himself and others to latch onto. It's been a blessing to know him and be his son!
He was declared Cancer free in March of 2022.
Until now.
Cancer has a way of butting its head back into the lives of loved ones, and unfortunately, this is no exception. Right now, he's hospitalized and awaiting a potentially life-threatening surgery, well, life-threatening if he doesn't receive it soon, I suppose. He is unable to work and so unable to pay bills and rent. He won't have anyone to take care of him where he's at now, and it looks like there will be at least a couple of months of recovery after this surgery (ileostomy surgery). We're trying our best to help, but it is a LOT, and if you've ever dealt with cancer in your family, then you know the pain and stress of having to worry about bills is in no way conducive to healing for your loved one. I don't want him to worry about this, he doesn't deserve it. He doesn't deserve any of this pain. He's one of the kindest souls around! If we can find a way to safely get him to Texas (he's in Florida) after the surgery, we will have a place for him to live and recover.
This gofundme was made as a last-ditch effort to alleviate our family's growing worries as the numbers are starting to become overwhelming.
Please help if you can. If you can't help right now, just getting the word out would be a blessing, and I know when he recovers, he will show appreciation and love to anyone who supported him and our family.
Thank you, kindly
