Dave Edwards for Israel

2017, a year that will live in infamy—well at least in my life!  That’s when I went through a very difficult time by encountering multiple trials.  Fortunately, now, I am slowly getting back to “the old Dave”.

Now, I’m focusing on healing and rebuilding.  I feel that one of the ways is to give to others.  That’s why, for the past 8 months, I’ve been helping with a food bank in Woodstock, VA.  In addition to my volunteer work, I’ve also had many paid on-site jobs in DC.  My best experience was a job recruiting and supervising 200 volunteers for the opening ceremonies of Special Olympics.

I believe God has presented me with an opportunity to travel to Israel and minister to His people. 

The nation of Israel and the area of Palestine are experiencing a very difficult time politically, economically and spiritually.  I want to express the love of Christ firsthand to the people of Israel through volunteering.  So, from September 12 - October 24, I will be in Israel and here is what I will be doing:

Feast of the Tabernacles (Jerusalem)

Every year, 6,000 Christians from all over the world come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles and show their support for the nation of Israel.  This event is hosted by International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). 

I have been selected to be one of three who will  implement the week-long event.  I’ll be joined by my new friends from McLean Bible Church.  I’ve already volunteered for ICEJ during their 3-day conference in DC which included a gala at The Museum of the Bible.  More information can be found at: https://feast.icej.org


Leket Israel

While in Israel, I will also be volunteering with Israel’s leading food rescue organization, Leket Israel.  My work with The Lighthouse Food Pantry should prove valuable with this endeavor.  Their website is www.leket.org

Yad Ezra V’Shulamit

While I am in Israel, I would like to get to know Israeli’s, Palestinians, Jews, Christians and Muslims. So far, I have an invitation to stay with a Christian family in Bethlehem and a muslim in Jerusalem.
