Dave Delaney's unexpected medical challenges
Donation protected
Hi my name is Dave and I'm creating this gofundme with my brother Tyler to help our dad paying for an unexpected hospitalization.
Four months ago our dad was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema. About seven weeks ago our dad became ill with a common cold. He went to his doctor who gave him steroids and an inhaler to help him cope with the cold. Unfortunately the cold had worsened and he unknowingly had developed pneumonia in his lungs.
On October 12th, dad went to readymed because he wasn't able to breathe. They brought him to St Vincent where he was hospitalized. They preformed chest xrays where they discovered the pneumonia and his right lung had collapsed. The doctors tried to drain the fluid around his lung through a bedside procedure but was unsuccessful due to how thick the fluid was. This fluid is a separate infection that creates its own challenges in treating before the pneumonia can be treated. It was then decided that dad would need to have a chest tube surgically placed to drain the fluid. At the same time, the fluid was sent to the lab to determine its best treatment.
Dad has always done everything he could to provide for his family if a wife and five kids; two adult, 15, 13, 11. Often times working 70-80 hour weeks for the past 10 years. Even now, while dad was a day away from death his biggest concern is his medical bill. His coin shop has been closed for the past month due to him being so sick and due to the health challenges he faces, unfortunately does not have a reopening date.
Dad has always been there for his downtrodden community through his work with the laundromat and his organization of the annual toy drive that he holds at his coin shop.
I ask for your consideration and show of support for my dad and his family so he may not spend his time worrying about his medical bill, but spend his time continuing to help bond his community.
Thank you.
