Dave Coubrough's legacy gift to Kayla

Donation protected

My name is Aunt Becky and I am setting up this legacy fund in memory of the unexpected passing of my husband's brother and my niece's dad, Dave Coubrough. He died on June 19, 2021 in a fatal highway accident in California while on his way to pick up Kayla in Santa Barbara where she is attending UCSB. We had plans to meet Dave and Kayla the next day in San Diego to celebrate Father's Day and Kayla's birthday and to spend time sailing with our girls and their dads. Those plans never materialized and we are still in shock over the loss of Dave.

Dave's proudest accomplishment and his most precious treasure was his daughter Kayla. He was always there for her and with her from the day she was born 19 years ago. He wanted to be the best dad he could be and he was. He was there when she took her first steps and when she started to read even before she started kindergarten. He never missed a gymnastics meet, a cheer competition, or a football game. He sat with her every night while she did her homework. He passed along wonderful life lessons of work hard, study hard, be your best, and have fun. He spent time with her and they took trips together including many trips to Tucson to visit us. One of his proudest moments was her graduation from high school last year and acceptance at UCSB. He helped move her to Santa Barbara in January even though school was still not in person, because he and Kayla both knew it was time for her to spread her wings.

She received academic scholarships and financial aid to help with school costs and Dave filled in the rest. She has been working at Starbuck's since she arrived in Santa Barbara and has taken on a second job since her father's passing to help with the bills. With the fall semester starting in a couple of weeks, she is concerned about juggling school and 2 jobs with a full academic load while still dealing with her father's passing.

Many people have asked how they can help and we thought by making this page it would be a way to pay tribute to Dave as well as lending financial help to his legacy, Kayla. I know Dave would want her to graduate college, that was his dream, and we want to help him and Kayla achieve that dream. I know Kayla would appreciate any help and that Dave will be smiling down from heaven watching his daughter as she reaches her goals. Thanks for considering a legacy gift in Dave's name.
