UPDATE 10/18: Dave underwent a 10-hour surgery that went into the early hours this morning. The lead surgeon was happy to announce that the tumor was successfully removed. He is still recovering under heavy sedation and we hope that he will be alert again soon. He still has a very long and difficult recovery ahead but he’s off to a great start! Thanks to all for your continued support for Dave.

As some of you may know, Dave is in a tough spot right now.
It began with blurry vision that slowly got worse over the summer. Finally, it got so bad he had to notify his employer of over 32 years, UPS, that he could no longer see well enough to drive his route and would need to take time off to get well again. Dave went to the eye doctor, who told him his eyes were healthy but that he should get an MRI asap.
The next visit was with the neurologist to go over the results: the MRI showed he has a golf ball size tumor in his brain that is growing and pushing on his optic nerve. He will need immediate surgery.
Today, 10/17/22, Dave will undergo eight hours of brain surgery to hopefully remove all or part of the tumor.
His recovery is expected to take 12 weeks. His medical future and life are uncertain. Though he no longer can work or draw his paycheck, thankfully he has health insurance and can draw a modest short-term disability stipend. Unfortunately, this does not come close to covering his basic monthly expenses and out-of-pocket medical costs.
Dave is very proud and has been stubborn about not asking for help, but right now he is in a fight for his life.
If you’d like to say a prayer for Dave or send him a note of encouragement, we know he would greatly appreciate it. If you want to make a small contribution to help Dave cover his bills while he fights through this ordeal, please donate here.
God willing, we’re hoping that Dave will soon be playing with his beloved dog, Chase, and getting back behind the wheel of his UPS truck delivering packages again.
