David Hulegaard is an experienced gamemaster, having led roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons for around 50 years. For the last 5 years he’s gone professional and called his company Role-The-Dice (rolethedice.org), running players through fantasy games several times a week for a small fee via a website called Startplaying.com, in addition to now making and selling fantasy-themed 3D printed items. It’s his family’s main income.
Due to disabilities, Dave needs to work from home and struggles to make ends meet for himself, his wife, and his teenage daughter.
Dave now needs to take his business to the next level. In January will be a “Dungeonmaster University” retreat at Oglethorpe University in Georgia. Attending this event will help Dave expand his business. It will allow him to meet with key companies and individuals in the gaming industry (some of whom are eager to meet with him), teach him advice for running an efficient business as a professional gamemaster, and give him an additional certification. He hopes to expand to running games for roleplay therapy, corporate teambuilding exercises, and birthday parties, utilizing his Batchelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and MBA in Sustainable Business.
But it’s not cheap. The cost of the retreat, air travel, and hotel will be an estimated $4000, something that is out of reach with the tight budget. Will you help him raise it?
