Dave’s story so far …

A week before Dave went into hospital he was having a few falls, bumping into things and didn't understand why.
On Sunday 28th December, he dropped his phone and when he went to pick it up he fell over head first into the radiator and his left side went numb. Called for ambulance as we thought he was having a stroke. When we got to hospital did lots of tests and scans. Told us that he had a mass on the brain. They did more tests and scans to confirm that it was cancer. We were moved to a ward but no beds so David was left in the corridor. When the doctor came to tell us the results there was no private room to go to and they told him while in the corridor and people walking past that it was cancer. The cancer was in his stomach and brain.
One of the nurses found out what happened and get us moved into a visitors quiet room so we could absorb what we had been told. After about an hour another nurse came by and told us we couldn't be in there and was moving us back to the corridor. Understandably we were not happy. The first nurse came back (sorry I can't remember her name) said what are you doing, you are not moving him till he has a bed and she fought our corner. We eventually got moved to a different ward were they treat David, all the staff we were lovely but Dave was not able to get cleaned and this was giving his anxiety and his ocd to be clean through the roof. He was not able to get cleaned as there was a bacteria coming up through the drains and the water had legionella in it. They would not let him home due to it being the holidays and not enough doctors to clear the correct medication. They finally released the stress it was coursing Dave and sorted meds out and sent him home. We went to James Cook to discuss the brain tumour and they believed that the tumour is the brain was the 1st as Darlington had not told them about the one in the stomach. As soon as they new this everything changed within seconds and they are now operating to remove the tumour. Once removed he will start radiotherapy. Once they have treated the brain they will then start on his stomach !

as you’ve read this hasn’t been easy so far for Dave ,

thanks in advance
