David and Christine Price are two long-time Parkchester, Bronx, New York residents. They are married twenty years and now live in Budd Lake, New Jersey. At 70, both are facing serious medical conditions.
Christine has severe scoliosis, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, plus an arhythmic heartbeat. Dave, quite suddenly, late in March, had to be hospitalized for severe abdominal pain and eventually underwent surgery for an abdominal infection. He was found with T-cell lymphoma of the stomach for which he is now receiving out-patient chemotherapy, complicated by kidney stones and a swollen prostate.
Their medical bills are very, very high. Their medical insurance, in addition to Medicare, is not sufficient to cover these bills. Further, a recent change in ownership of the apartment complex in which they live has resulted in a sudden and sizable boost in their rent.
Anyone who knows Dave and Chris knows how engaging and witty they are, and comes away from meeting them smiling and cheerful.
