Hi guys.. Lennys mum here.
This is not something I ever wanted to do, or thought I would have to do so, here goes. And hope you have time to read❤️
Most of you will follow Lenny’s Instagram and have a little bit of an idea of what is going on but…
Lenny has been quite unwell for around 7 months with breathing issues and genuinely being breathless and contracting colds and coughs every month with no obvious reason and it is breaking my heart to see him not himself and only getting worse
After going back-and-forth to the vets with a number of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and constant bills he didn’t seem to improve.
Our walks got shorter and him becoming out of breath and panting to the point he got himself into a state of panic became more often and you could tell Lenny was not happy in himself and was becoming very sad and poorly.
All of his bloods were normal so the next step was for this to be investigated via an operation to rule out what the vets thought he could have and to rule out anything serious, such as a tumour.
Last Thursday Lenny was taken in for his procedure/op which involved a camera and tube down him to check his throat, airways chest and lungs. They looked to open up his airways, and do something called a tieback which would allow him to have better breathing. They also flushed his chest, took some swabs of his throat and lungs and took some biopsies. Lenny was in the vets for a whole day to try and get to the bottom of this and find out what was going on. This was a massive thing for him and me.
We cannot fault the vets for all they did and the time and care they took checking for everything.
Of course we are insured with pet plan and agreed to do a direct claim with the vets which we initially thought we would have no issues with and that was a massive weight taken off my shoulders and would go straight through…
Lenny is now back home and recovering although we have had a call from the insurance and vets to say that the claim has been declined and closed due to back in the summer Lenny had an episode of heat stroke in only 11 degree heat which came out of nowhere as he wasn’t doing exercise or anything but he was rushed to the out of hours Emergency vets and was treated there, and luckily he made a full recovery. Unfortunately the vets had put this down on his records and file as a “respiratory issue” not heat stroke which is was and what we was told. This is why our insurance has now come back declined and as they are saying we are trying to claim for a previous issue that was on going which we aren’t as this was not connected in anyway and completely out the blue.
We have been back-and-forth with the vets trying to come to an agreement for them to let pet plan know that this wasn’t a respiratory issue and wasn’t connected at all and it was in fact heatstroke but unfortunately we are losing a fighting battle and the insurance and vets have won
We have done absolutely everything we can but we have gotten nowhere and this is our last resort we know money is tight with everybody these days, but also that our babies are our world. Our vets have now called to say we have the balance of £5,489.40 which has to be paid ASAP and we are still obviously going through more investigations and treatment, but we now have this massive bill to try and clear as well as added bills to come.
Obviously this has come at a massive shock and expect your insurance to be your safe, place to fall back on, but in this case it’s not and put us in a very difficult position as this amount of money is not something everybody has laying around and we never thought we would be in this position, we are looking to raise code of the procedure and operation to clear this with our vets and move forward to more investigating.
We are more than happy to attach invoices and everything else.
We know this is a massive massive ask from everyone❤️
Thank you for reading, and we appreciate anybody who donates and can’t thank you all enough. It means the absolute world to me and I know this is a massive amount of money and we really wouldn’t do this If we didn’t feel we needed to and I know it would mean the absolute world to my little piggy to get him better! We hope in the future we can repay anybody for their kindness and support and we will update everyone on our journey. Thankyou ❤️❤️❤️
