Support Layla's Journey to Recovery

Hi, my name is Chenoa. I'm a veterinary assistant working toward becoming a certified veterinary technician.
A couple of months ago, a gentle shepherd named Layla came into the clinic where I work. She had been hit by a car, leaving her with a deep laceration on her left thigh and unable to put any weight on her right hind leg. After running radiographs, we discovered the only internal injury she suffered was a dislocated hip.
We discussed treatment options with her family: a total hip replacement, an FHO (removal of head and neck of the Femur), or a less ideal, temporary fix called a closed reduction (pushing the joint back in place). Unfortunately, financial struggles made it an issue for them to pursue the best options, so they considered the choice of humane euthanasia. They were initially able to cover the costs of repairing her laceration and wanted to attempt the closed reduction, knowing it wasn’t a guaranteed fix.
This past Wednesday, Layla returned to the clinic, still limping. The veterinarian recommended another radiograph to reassess her hip, but her family couldn’t move forward with more expenses. They chose humane euthanasia, as they felt they were out of options. At this point, I offered to adopt her, and her family thankfully surrendered her to me, giving her a second chance at life.
Now, I am raising funds to get Layla the surgery she needs: a new hip that will allow her to live the happy, pain-free life she deserves. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to giving Layla the future she almost lost. Thank you for reading her story and for helping write a better ending for Layla. ❤️
