Our mother has always been the strongest person we know.

She is a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, a devoted mother of four daughters, and a loving grandmother. Her life has been one of quiet strength, deep sacrifice, and unwavering love- for her country, for her family, and for anyone in need.

As a single mom, she worked graveyard shifts and constant overtime just to keep a roof over our heads. Even when times were hard- really hard- she gave selflessly. We’ve been through seasons of homelessness, struggled to pay bills, and gone without. But through it all, our mom never stopped helping others.

She’s the kind of woman who would pull over to give someone a ride home when their arms were full of groceries. She’s opened her door and her heart to people who needed a place to stay- never asking for anything in return. That’s just who she is. A giver. A quiet warrior. Someone who always puts others before herself, especially when it comes to her daughters and her grandchild.

Last year, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. She endured surgery and months of chemotherapy. Just when we thought the worst was behind us, we were hit with devastating news: the cancer had returned and progressed. She is now fighting Stage 4 liver cancer.

I’ll never forget the day she called to tell me. I had never seen or heard my mother cry before- not once. But that day, through tears, she told me the news. My heart dropped. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. For the first time in my life, I heard the fear in her voice- and it broke me.

Still, even in the face of this diagnosis, my mom continues to show up with joy in her heart. She smiles. She laughs. She encourages us. Despite everything, she holds on to her faith and chooses to be light in the darkness. Her spirit remains unshaken.

We are still trying to pay off the medical bills from last year’s treatments, and the costs continue to rise with ongoing hospital visits, specialist appointments, medications, and care. All while she continues to work as much as her body allows.

Our mom would never ask for help on her own- she never wants to inconvenience anyone. But this time, she truly needs it. Our goal of $10,000 will help cover ongoing cancer treatments, medical bills from past care, and give our mom the ability to rest and heal without the burden of overwhelming costs.
