Hello! We are Daughter Dragon Productions, a team of unpaid college students and recent graduates volunteering our time and pooling our resources to produce a 40-minute documentary about the Boston-based, Vietnam-born fashion designer, expert tailor, and owner of Kim's Fashion Design, Kim Pham.

The goal of this fundraiser is to subsidize the cost of transcribing and translating interviews that we conducted in Vietnamese, Kim's mother tongue, into English. Because we have a nonprofit fiscal sponsorship with the Brookline/Cambridge Community Center for the Arts, financial contributions to our project are tax deductible.

Colored by her devout Buddhist faith and a childhood roiled by constant conflict, Kim's story is a timely model of hope and resilience from which we can all take not merely solace, but instruction.

Beyond securing her own survival, Kim valiantly ensured the safe passage of nearly 500 of her fellow asylum seekers in the final waves of the mass "Boat People" exodus from South Vietnam in the late 20th century.

73 years-old and still working 10+ hour days in her shop in Copley Place, Kim continues to face the daily trials and tribulations so familiar to America's first-generation immigrants.

Kim dreams that, by turning her heroic narrative into a documentary, she can inspire others, particularly young women, to realize the agency to alter their circumstances for the better, and be a force for good.

Your donation will have an immediate impact no matter the size, significantly enhancing our capacity to authentically tell Kim Pham's story and, more broadly, to inspire an empathetic approach to making sense of the American War in Vietnam and its lessons in humanity.

Thank you for your attention and consideration!
