On October 4th, 2025, I began experiencing severe abdominal pain that quickly became unbearable. The next day, I was admitted to Henry Mayo Hospital, where doctors discovered I had multiple gallstones — one that had escaped and caused a pancreatic infection, and another that was large enough to potentially block fluids from reaching my liver.
I was immediately moved to the ICU and underwent two procedures to remove the stones, followed by a third surgery to remove my gallbladder entirely. What was supposed to be a quick hospital visit turned into a week-long stay, multiple surgeries, and a long recovery process filled with strong medications, antibiotics, and follow-up care.
The experience was both humbling and eye-opening. One moment, I was managing my personal life, business life, and school life (since I decided to go back to school and get my bachelor's in business) — and the next, everything came to a complete stop. The recovery period has required me to step back from work and classes to focus fully on healing and regaining my strength.
I’m incredibly thankful to have caught this in time and to be on the road to recovery, but the sudden loss of income and mounting medical expenses have been tough to manage. I’m creating this fundraiser to help cover:
- Missed work and lost income
- Rent and basic living expenses
- Hospital bills and medications
If you’re able to contribute (no matter the amount), it would mean the world to me. Every bit of help will go directly toward keeping me from falling behind and keeping me afloat while I recover, and relieving me from the stress of uncertainty, allowing me a full recovery and ensuring I avoid adding stress from financial strain.
Thank you all so much for your kindness, generosity, and support. I’m truly grateful to still be here, healing, and moving forward one step at a time.
With appreciation and hope,
David
