Hi everyone! My name is Dasola, I’m 20 years old, and I’m a Criminal Justice major with dreams of becoming an immigration lawyer.
I immigrated to the United States from Nigeria when I was just 9 years old, so I know firsthand how difficult and overwhelming the immigration process can be. My own experiences are what inspired me to pursue immigration law. I want to spend my life helping families navigate the same challenges I’ve faced and be a voice for people who feel like they don’t have one.
Outside of school, I’m also an author! I wrote and published my very own novel, Burn Me Beautiful, an entire book written in poetry. Writing has always been another way for me to express myself, and publishing my book at such a young age reminded me that I’m capable of accomplishing the things I set my mind to, even when they seem impossible.
Unfortunately, financial difficulties have made it hard for me to continue my education at Indiana University. Having to put my education on hold has been heartbreaking, especially when I have so many dreams I’m working toward.
I’ve never been afraid of working hard for the life I want. I’m just hoping for a little help getting there. Any donation, no matter how small, would bring me one step closer to finishing my degree and becoming the immigration lawyer I’ve always dreamed of being.
Thank you for reading my story, believing in me, and helping me continue my education. It means more than you know.
