My Story: My name is Ferdinand Swedi, I was born in the Congo and I am currently a senior at American University studying International Relations and I am the first in my immediate family to attend a four year university. As an International Relations major, my school highly recommend students studying abroad as a way to get a global view of the world. Due to this recommendation, I decided to spend the next semester abroad and have been accepted by the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies

However, one thing that is standing in way of this wonderful opportunity to see the world and study at one of the world's best university is financial worries. While my current financial aid package will cover my tuition and some of my housing abroad, it will not be enough to cover my books, transportation, food and general living expenses. At the same time, while my financial fears still stand, I am also aware that giving up before I try is not an option. This is why I am reaching out to all of you, I’m hoping that you will be kind enough to help me be a part of this adventure with any contributions you are able to make. I am not simply asking for just a donation but for you to cross the pond with me. I promise to keep you all in the loop with updates, photos, and have you experience this journey with me. By supporting me you will be making a difference in my education and affirming that dreams really do come true!

My Goal: I am going to be totally honest and say that I never thought attending a four year university was in the cards for me. I honestly always thought it would be just a dream. After numerous life challenges, I finally made it to a four year university and I cannot tell you how incredible it feels to be living the dream I never thought was possible. I would love to be an example for those who never thought a dream was possible and thus my ultimate goal is to graduate and give back to the community as much as I can.

This journey begins on September 18! I am asking family and friends to assist me to make sure I am able to attend this incredible opportunity to experience the world.
