My name is Natalia, and I’m fundraising for my sister, Daria—“Dasha” to everyone who loves her. In December 2025, Dasha suffered a sudden and life‑altering cardiac emergency at her home in Vancouver. She survived thanks to the incredible work of first responders and the team at St. Paul’s Hospital, but the damage to her body and brain has been devastating.
Right now, Dasha cannot speak and has completely lost her independence. For the past three months, I’ve been by her side every day, from intensive care to her current, more stable condition under constant medical supervision. She has just begun private physical therapy, taking tiny but meaningful steps toward moving on her own again, and will soon start speech therapy and other treatments to support her neurological recovery.
To give Dasha the best possible chance at regaining some independence, we are raising $75,000 CAD. These funds will go directly toward Dasha’s care and legal protection.
This fund will go toward:
• Ongoing medical and rehabilitation expenses (185/hour, 3-5 times weekly)
• Specialized therapies to restore speech and mobility (estimated 200/hour, frequency to be determined)
• Adaptive equipment and home care support ($5,000-$10,000)
• Legal fees to secure guardianship and manage Dasha’s affairs (approx $11,000- $15,000)
Many of the therapies Dasha needs are only available through private providers in British Columbia, and her insurance coverage has already been exhausted. Our family and friends have contributed as much as we can, but the costs are now beyond what we can manage alone.
Legal guardianship is also essential so that I can make decisions on Dasha’s behalf and manage her finances to keep her care consistent and secure.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Dasha’s ongoing medical care, therapies, equipment, and legal fees to protect her future. If you knew Dasha, you know how full of life, warmth, and generosity she has always been. If you don’t know her, I hope you’ll see in her story someone fighting for a second chance at life.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this GoFundMe with others is an enormous help. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us fight for Dasha’s recovery and dignity.
