Help with Dash & Dotti's poisoning

Sometimes the most giving people need a little help. Please consider supporting this single, dedicated mom who was recently shamed online while reaching out for a little help.

Through our community pay-it-forward group I have gotten to know a very sweet, positive, humble, hard-working, single mom. It was Jessica's unwavering positivity and dedication to providing a quality life for her son that made her stand out to me. She not only embraced the challenges of becoming a solo parent, she did so with love and grace through a pandemic while also battling multiple medical issues of her own. Even while tackling the unfathomable, she still selflessly offered to donate to our community group. Jessica is truly a GIVER and sets the best example for the wonderful young man she is raising.

It was for these reasons I was appalled when I saw someone publicly shame her online when she humbly asked for help during an unexpected back-to-back vet emergency. Jessica has always prioritized providing a quality life for her son and this includes lovingly caring for Dash & Dotti, their two beloved dogs. These pups have helped them get through the most difficult of times and are truly their family and support.

Last month they had to rush Dotti to the vet for an unidentified toxin in the yard. Without question, Jessica took on the $3000 vet bill, asking for nothing more than prayers even though it wiped out their month of rent. She has always been dedicated to graciously finding a way through difficult situations and arranged to make payments with their rent to offset the costs. Although she was able to save Dotti they were unable to identify exactly what toxin it was. Just when they thought they were making their way out of the stressful and expensive vet emergency their other pup started to exhibit the same symptoms and was also heartbreakingly rushed to the vet. One unexpected emergency vet visit can be debilitating, and two within a month is crippling, so Jessica understandably humbly reached out to her community for help. She was surprisingly shamed online for not being able to shoulder two very large, unexpected expenses and criticized for her attempts to save her animals. I was shocked. Despite everything she has been through this is the first time I've seen Jessica reach out for help. She handled the unwarranted comments gracefully, but she still needs help keeping their little family whole while they search for the source of this toxin.

I have put together this GoFundMe as an extension of her ask because I cannot think of a more kind, selfless, hard-working, and deserving person. Amongst everything else she is shouldering, she is struggling to now manage $4,500 in emergency vet bills. I hope she can find some support from other animal lovers who understand what it means to be unquestionably dedicated to their animal companions and also find support from a community who she gives to without question, even when she doesn't have an abundance to give.

Please consider donating to this campaign or directly to the emergency clinic if you are able. I've watched Jessica work consistently to lift herself and her son out of a challenging situation, providing a loving home and environment along the way, and she could use a little kindness. If you are not able to financially help, sharing this campaign with someone who could or even sending kind words to Jessica will be immeasurably helpful. Kindness is priceless.
