Mit eurer Unterstützung können wir unseren Dokumentarfilm über Deutschlands Politik gegenüber Israel und Palästina sowie über die Repression palästinasolidarischer Stimmen in Deutschland vollenden.
ÜBER DAS PROJEKT
Der Dokumentarfilm DAS LAUTE SCHWEIGEN beleuchtet die deutsche Politik gegenüber Israel und Palästina und zeigt, wie palästinasolidarische Stimmen in Öffentlichkeit, Medien und Kultur massiv unter Druck geraten. Durch Interviews, Fallbeispiele und Analysen macht der Film sichtbar, wie Debatten eingeschränkt, Kritik delegitimiert und Meinungsäußerungen sanktioniert werden.
Der Film eröffnet damit eine Auseinandersetzung mit einem Thema, das in Deutschland von Spannungen, Tabuisierungen und Machtasymmetrien geprägt ist.
SYNOPSIS
DAS LAUTE SCHWEIGEN konzentriert sich vor allem auf den Zeitraum vom 7. Oktober 2023 bis heute in Deutschland und fängt die Perspektiven und Erfahrungen verschiedener Akteur*innen im Zusammenhang mit dem Israel-Palästina-Konflikt und dem Genozid in Gaza ein – insbesondere diejenigen, die in der öffentlichen Debatte oft nur eingeschränkt oder verzerrt dargestellt werden.
Der Film betrachtet sowohl persönliche Erlebnisse von Menschen in Deutschland als auch die breitere gesellschaftliche Debatte. Kritisch beleuchtet werden dabei Themen wie Staatsräson, deutsche Waffenlieferungen, Antisemitismusvorwürfe sowie Einschränkungen von Kunst- und Wissenschaftsfreiheit und allgemeine Bürgerrechte im Kontext palästinasolidarischen Aktivismus.
DAS LAUTE SCHWEIGEN verbindet diese Interviews mit gelesenen Zeugnissen aus Gaza/Palästina, welche die oft sonst hierzulande entmenschlichte Stimmen aus Palästina spürbar machen sollen.
Expert*innen werden in Bezug auf die historische Bedeutung deutscher Verantwortung befragt und eine Einordnung zur aktuellen Entwicklung Deutschlands in Bezug auf die Menschenrechte geben. Was haben wir als Deutsche wirklich aus unserer Geschichte gelernt?
Die Zuschauer*innen sollen zudem einen Einblick in die persönlichen Lebenswelten von in Deutschland lebenden Palästinenser*innen bekommen. Was sind Ihre Erfahrungen? Was sind Ihre Ängste und Hoffnungen?
WARUM WIR EURE UNTERSTÜTZUNG BRAUCHEN
Unser Ziel ist es, den Film in höchster künstlerischer Qualität fertigzustellen und auf Filmfestivals, in Kinos und digitalen Plattformen einem breiten Publikum zugänglich zu machen.
Als wir DAS LAUTE SCHWEIGEN gestartet haben, dachten wir, wir wüssten ziemlich genau, wie groß dieses Projekt wird. Inzwischen wissen wir: Es ist größer geworden – inhaltlich, zeitlich und vom Team!
In den letzten Monaten sind neue Stimmen, Begegnungen und Geschichten dazugekommen. Manche Drehs mussten spontan erweitert werden, andere kamen neu hinzu. Parallel dazu ist auch der Rechercheaufwand deutlich gewachsen: Wir arbeiten journalistisch und wissenschaftlich, prüfen Fakten, ordnen Aussagen ein und stellen sicher, dass der Film inhaltlich fundiert und verantwortungsvoll bleibt. Inzwischen haben wir sehr viel Material, das sorgfältig gesichtet, überprüft, eingeordnet und verarbeitet werden soll.
Kurz gesagt:
Der Film braucht mehr Zeit, mehr Arbeit – und mehr Menschen, als wir am Anfang eingeplant hatten.
Mit dem bisherigen Spendenziel können wir den Film grundsätzlich fertigstellen.
Mit dem erweiterten Ziel von 60.000 € können wir außerdem:
dem Team zumindest einen Teil der Arbeit vergüten und somit zusammenhängende Arbeitsphasen ermöglichen (statt alles „nebenbei“)
wichtige Schritte der Postproduktion in der nötigen Qualität umsetzen:
Schnitt, Ton, Motion Graphics & Animationen, Untertitel, wissenschaftliche Recherche, Archivmaterial-Sichtung sowie rechtliche Prüfung
Alles zusätzliche Geld fließt direkt in die Fertigstellung des Films – und in die Menschen, die ihn möglich machen.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The documentary explores German policies toward Israel and Palestine, highlighting how voices in solidarity with Palestine are increasingly coming under pressure in public and cultural spheres. Through interviews, case studies, and analysis, the film reveals how debates are curtailed, criticism delegitimised, and expressions of opinion penalised. LOUD SILENCE thus opens an examination of an issue in Germany that is marked by tensions, taboos, and power asymmetries.
SYNOPSIS
The documentary LOUD SILENCE focuses primarily on the period from October 7, 2023, up to the present day in Germany. Its aim is to capture perspectives and experiences of various actors in Germany in relation to the Israel-Palestine conflict — especially those that have been represented only partially or in a distorted way in public debate.
On the one hand, the film takes a closer look at the different experiences of individuals and the related debates in Germany; on the other hand, it critically examines issues and concepts such as Staatsräson (reason of state), German arms deliveries, accusations of antisemitism, and restrictions on artistic and academic freedom in relation to pro-Palestinian activism.
Through interviews, activists, scholars, journalists, and artists are asked to reflect on these themes. At the forefront are people themselves — their experiences and personal realities of life in Germany. LOUD SILENCE weaves these interviews together with testimonies from Gaza/Palestine, read aloud in order to make audible and tangible the often dehumanised voices from Palestine.
Experts are also interviewed regarding the historical weight of German responsibility and asked to provide context on Germany’s current trajectory in relation to human rights. What have we, as Germans, truly learned from our history?
The film further seeks to provide insight into the personal worlds of Palestinians living in Germany. What are their experiences? What are their fears and hopes?
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Our goal is to complete the film with the highest artistic quality and make it accessible to a broad audience at film festivals, in cinemas, and on digital platforms.
When we started LOUD SILENCE, we thought we had a fairly clear idea of the project’s scope. We now know: it has grown—conceptually, in terms of time, and in terms of the team.
In recent months, new voices, encounters, and stories have been added. Some shoots had to be expanded spontaneously; others were newly added. At the same time, the research effort has increased significantly: we work journalistically and academically, fact-check, contextualize statements, and ensure that the film remains substantively sound and responsible. We now have a great deal of material that needs to be carefully reviewed, verified, contextualized, and processed.
In short: The film needs more time, more work—and more people than we initially planned.
With the original donation goal, we can complete the film in principle.
With the extended goal of €60,000, we can additionally:
- compensate the team for at least part of their work, enabling focused, continuous work phases (instead of everything happening “on the side”)
- carry out essential post-production steps at the required quality level: editing, sound, motion graphics & animation, subtitles, academic research, archival material review, and legal review
All additional funds will flow directly into the completion of the film—and into the people who make it possible.
