Daryn Untiedt's Eagle Scout Project

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family: My name is Daryn Untiedt, and I have been in Scouting since the first grade. I started as a Tiger in Cub Scouts and after nine years in scouting, I have achieved the rank of Life Scout. I am now working on my Eagle Rank with Troop 258 in Rock Island, IL. My project will be to build a Gaga ball pit at Hodge Park in Rock Island. If you don’t know what Gaga ball is, Ga means to hit, and it’s a fast-paced, high-energy game with any number of players inside of a pit. The game has many variations, but the main point of the game is to hit a soft foam ball and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with the ball below the knees. The last player remaining is the winner. I have obtained a quote from Coach Cliffs Gaga ball pits, a company from Libertyville, IL that specializes in Gaga ball kits. The pit will be octagon shaped with 30-inch high walls and 8ft long sections, the same as the one built in Lincoln Park in Rock Island. In addition, I have also been in discussions with the Black Hawk College construction class to help me construct the cement base for the kit. My project proposal has been approved by the Illowa Council and I am starting the fundraising phase of my project. I plan to start the construction phase in May 2023 and have It completed by the end of June 2023. The date will be finalized soon depending on fundraising, the weather, and dates of availability. Everyone is going Ga-Ga for Gaga ball and it has become very popular with the kids in my troop, kids in schools, and summer camps. I think this pit will be very beneficial and fun for all ages and will be a great addition to Hodge Park in Rock Island. To make my project a reality, I am asking for a monetary donation from friends and family. I have estimated that the cost of my project will be $4000. I have raised $1000 to date and need an additional $3000 to complete my project. If you are willing and able to make a tax-deductible donation to my project, it would be greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from you soon.   Yours in Scouting, Daryn Untiedt, Boy Scout Troop 258
