Daryl’s Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
I am sure every person reading this who knows Daryl has been touched by his kindness. Daryl is a selfless giver- always there to lend a hand, give advice, be a shoulder to cry on, a source of laughter during hard times, and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed.
In 2015 Daryl experienced unexplained complications which led to a series of hospital stays including a stint from Christmas 2015- New Years 2016 and the eventual diagnosis of kidney failure and first dialysis in early January 2016 at the age of just 29.
Even with this diagnoses and declining heath and mobility, Daryl refrained from sharing his story so he wouldn’t burden anyone. Throughout his journey, including multiple hospital stays, dialysis 4 times a week, and limited ability to stand or walk for long distances, Daryl still showed up for others. An active member of the Wilkes Barre NAACP and other community projects and organizations, Daryl spent countless hours trying to make the world a better place for all, along with continuing to show up for his friends and those around him; while suffering silently himself.
After 8 years of suffering, Daryl is finally able to get the best gift of all: a new kidney and a chance to reclaim his life.
With this wonderful gift comes expenses that are daunting:
- Medical Expenses
- Living arrangements near the hospital during recovery
- Basic in-home assistance during recovery
- Travel to and from post-transplant appointments
So if you’ve ever smiled at a joke, been on the receiving end of advice, cried on his shoulder, benefited from the hours of community service, or are just a friend of Daryl- I urge you to donate and give back to a person who has spent his whole life giving without asking for anything in return.
