My name is Rebecca Gratton and I'm writing this on behalf of my best friend and Dad, Daryl Gratton.
We're looking to raise money to help support his third battle with cancer. At this point we've tried the conventional methods and unfortunately after trying the doctors approach without improvement we are looking to try our own and go with a holistic, natural method. These approaches aren't covered by our health care system and certainly aren't inexpensive. Essentially, we either try this or continue with extensive chemotherapy for as long as his body will handle it.
Earlier this year, before diagnosis, Daryl had decided to retire after many years at CP Rail in order to begin to enjoy his later years in life since the last 5 had been spent battling cancer on and off. We were certain that the last time would be the last time. As July 2016 approached and he went for a regularly scheduled check-up the worst was confirmed and the cancer had returned. What had started years before as colon cancer had metastasized to liver cancer and connected to his diaphragm and now was back for his lungs. The spots in his lungs were too large to operate and the doctors informed us that more countless rounds of chemotherapy would be the best approach. We moved forward with this treatment plan hoping for the best but here we are with not much improvement and in a rapid race against time.
His last round of chemo ends on the 21 of October 2016 and the window to begin holistic treatment is very small. All money donated to this cause will be used towards footing the bills for the medications, supplements and specialists required to carry out this treatment plan. Specifically some of the things we would like to do are as follows:
Greece Test - Send all medical records to a lab in Greece where they are able to form a customized treatment plan, both holistic and chemotherapy, based off of what your tumor is made up of. This will cost roughly $2000US and will outline everything else my Dad will need as well.
Vitamin C Injections - These help to reduce tumors and would be taken daily. Generally a booster to all of the good cells in body and to assist in immune system function. The cost of this will range to about $600 weekly.
Hemp Oil/Pills - To be consumed at roughly a gram a day. Another holistic approach to reduce tumors while also preventing new masses from forming. Cost of this will vary but the best method with the direct oil is a cost of $85/vile.
I understand that inevitably we will all lose the ones who mean most to us one day but we feel that that day shouldn't be anytime soon for him and that we must try everything in our power to give him his chance. Financially we are not able to give him the chance that he, and everyone else in a situation similar to this, deserves. Donating would not only mean a lot to my Dad but it would mean a lot to our whole family and all of his friends. None of us are ready to give up on this battle yet and any donation or sharing of this story would greatly assist us in our efforts.
There aren't enough words to explain how thankful we all will be but I can say that my brother and I will be thankful for a father, my mom for a husband, his siblings for a brother and his friends for their "Camel". To you this may be just another story but to us this is our harsh reality and we have nothing left to do except ask for help and support from our friends and our community. Thank you in advance.
