Darwen Hedgehog Rescue

Hi my name is Alison Horsfall and I started Darwen Hedgehog Rescue in 2018 after attending the Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation centre and completing their Hedgehog first aid course.

From here I setup the rescue from my home in Darwen and received a steady Influx of hedgehogs through word of mouth, and from people who brought sick and Injured Hogs to me, and from local vets passing my details on as well.

In 2023 I decided to put the rescue on Facebook and from there the influx of Hedgehogs boomed due to a wider audience, we now have over 1000 followers and this number grows every week.

We have now outgrown the clinic I operate from in our home and would like to fundraise to have an outside Insulated room built in our garden where myself and my volunteers will have more room to work from to save these beautiful creatures, before releasing them back into their natural habitat.
