Study Abroad in Ghana
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Erika Cabrera and I am a sophomore at Dartmouth College. I am majoring in Cognitive Science with a double minor in Human Development and Education and African and African American Studies. Because of my AAAS minor I will be studying in Ghana this upcoming fall from September 2017- November 2017.
My regular financial aid assistance will carry over as if I were studying at Dartmouth, but studying abroad comes with more expenses and is typically more expensive than a term in Hanover, NH. Several of these expenses will not be paid for by Dartmouth like my flights to travel to Ghana and back, along with my day to day expenses and travel within Africa.
I have always had a passion for traveling for as long as I could remember and took my first trip at the age of 15 to Hawaii with Brown University. Since then, I have been on several trips both on my own and with volunteer and service organizations like Rustic Pathways and Habitat for Humanity. This study abroad trip is not only one that will allow me to fully immerse into the African culture and history, but is one of the only study abroad programs at Dartmouth that also engages in service work, which is exactly what I have such a passion for! I am more than grateful to Dartmouth and the AAAS department for allowing me to take part in this journey, but I will also need some more support to be able to take full advantage of the opportunity presented to me.
I am looking forward to studying abroad this fall and will absolutely be forever grateful if I can get more assistance and support along the way. I will keep my donors updated on my travel and whereabouts during the time period and once again will be sending you my sincere gratitude!
