A message from Richard McVay, Owner and Founder of Dart’em Up
Community matters now more than ever. Dart’em Up has been building community inside our fun Nerf Sports Arena and family entertainment center as well as outside our walls in the Austin area since November 2016. It has been our honor to provide millions of smiles, hours of laughter, and help thousands of people build lasting memories with friends and family.
Dart’em Up needs your help, I need your help. My small business, which I started with my son Sean, is in danger of having to close our doors forever. This looming closure not only impacts me and my son, the entire Dart’em Up Family – a staff of 12, but also the Austin community. To date, we have provided birthday parties for more than 250 homeless and underprivileged children in our community through our partnerships with Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Casa of Williamson County, and Mission Possible.
We were thrilled to re-open in June after being closed for three months, however, we had to close again in July, but reopened again in August which has continued to drain our cash reserves. The Dart’em Up team has worked hard to ensure we are following CDC, State and local guidelines to ensure a sanitized and safe place to play. But this isn’t enough, business has remained very slow and we have exhausted all of our resources, including relief funds we received such as PPP.
Can you please help me by making a donation to my business?
To weather this storm and remain in business, we need to raise $50,000. This will help me pay my staff, pay rent and utilities and other business expenses so we can get through the next three to four months. I am confident that if we can get through the rest of 2020, when we will see an increase in business as families look to fill their days with fun during the winter months.
You can also support Dart’em Up by coming in now to play epic Nerf battles in our Sports Arena and play arcades. You can host a private event (we make a great spot for Quarantine Squad) or a birthday party for kids of ALL ages (even the grown ones!)

· Dart’em Up was born out of a shared love of Nerf between me and my son Sean (soon to be 17). Starting this business has made us more humble and it is really cool to see how proud Sean is of what we have accomplished together - - of course I’m proud, too!
· Community has been at the core of our business since day one. Giving back was vital to us, so I asked Sean how he wanted to help others. He came up with the idea to help homeless and underprivileged kids by providing birthday parties for them. For every 10 parties we host, we provide a birthday party for children in our community, which has been more than 250 since 2016.
· Dart’em Up has donated parties and Nerf guns to hundreds of organizations in order to help them raise money with their fundraising events. We’ve donated to Ronald McDonald House, JDRF, Dell Children’s Hospital, Junior League of Austin, Back on My Feet to name a few and countless schools (Bands, Sports, Activities) for Spirit Nights and Silent Auctions.
· We are an active PTA Business Community Member of the Round Rock School District by supporting schools in this district as well as schools in the Austin ISD, Leander ISD, and others by hosting fundraisers (Spirit Nights) and donating hundreds of silent auction items.
Our motto has been, Have Fun, Play Fair, and Create Memories! Please help our team continue to be the reason we are Dart’em Up!
