Darryl's Heart for Life

Please help us to make a difference in Darryl’s life who is well loved thanks to his humorous character, positive attitude and never short of a story to share. Regretfully, however, Darryl has spent more time in hospital over the last 12 months than at home. At 7 years of age, Darryl lost his leg to bone cancer and later in life discovered the medication scarred his heart causing cardiomyopathy and began a process of progressive deterioration. At age 38, a pace maker was installed and thereafter at age 48 this was replaced with a “lvad“ battery powered pump to maintain heart function. Then, after a long wait on the transplant list, a compatible heart donor recently become available which has given him another chance at life (on this note, Darryl and his family are forever thankful to the donor and their family for the ultimate gift). However, it is a long road to recovery and the genourisity of others will help Darryl and his family of four to get through this challenging period. We thank all those who are able to offer financial support toward medical and general living expenses. Let’s pull together and help get Darryl back on his feet (foot!) as he’s never been a person to put his hand out for anything.
