Darryl meant a lot of things to a number of people. He was a father, a brother, a son, most importantly a man after God's own heart; not perfect yet tried to make the best out of everything he attempted to do.  He strived to teach others especially young athletes to be healthy.   Darryl had a charming personality that people just gravitated to.  With his soft spoken words and sometimes goofy demeanor won you over.   Darryl seemed perfectly healthy until December 8, 2016 when he went into Mercy Hospital - Bakersfield not feeling well. After a number of test and months in the hospital, he was finally diagnosed with a blood disorder called myelodyplastic disorder syndrome (MDS).  MDS is a rare group of disorders in which your body no longer makes enough healthy platelets, red, and white blood cells.  For 5 months Darryl stayed in the hospital battling this dreaded cancer.  On Tuesday evening, April 25, 2017, Darryl died at the age of 57.

Darryl did not ask for much but to live peacefully and in health.
