Darryl Usher was an incredible young man, track star and professional football athlete who, at the age of 26, was taken from this earth far too soon.
We are his former high school classmates, who want to solidify his memory with a scholarship created to support future student athletes at San Mateo High School, California, who share Darryl's quiet leadership, athletic abilities and commitment to academic improvement as well as who have a financial need.
Our goal is to raise fund and to begin distribution in the 2014/15 school year. After our initial "pass the hat" fundraiser at our San Mateo High School Class of 1983 reunion held in November 2013, we have approximately $1,000. We would like to triple this amount this year.
We invite your encouragement and ideas on how to make this scholarship a success for years to come. We wish to create a legacy for the young man whom we all loved and admired and who was taken from us too soon.
