Michael Hoke & Rhonda Hoke Sciorilli from Rome, NY are raising funds for our brother & sister-in-law, Darrin & Linda Hoke (below), recent victims of Hurricane Laura's wrath in Lake Charles Louisiana.

While there was no loss of life, there was extensive damage to their home and recently opened pet boarding/grooming business. On the night Laura hit, they sheltered several friends along with many of their clients' animals.
The new shelter withstood the storm but two storage facilities were totally destroyed. The chimney on their home came through the roof leaving a gaping hole, exposure to the elements and damaging the second and main floors.

The pets that are staying with them belong to First Responders, Medical Professionals, and people who lived in the most prone locations. A number of their clients have lost everything and Linda and Darrin will be taking care of their babies for the foreseeable future. They have also received a number of calls requesting emergency boarding and while they want to help they have no electricity and the water situation is sporadic at best.

While much of this will be covered by a very high deductible insurance policy, there will be many costs that will not be covered.
From Darrin & Linda: "We have to say that our family, friends, clients, and community have been awesome and we are receiving a lot of support in terms of dog food, water, fuel, cleaning supplies, etc... Linda and I have broken down in tears over the many obstacles we are facing on a daily basis. We have also broken down in tears over the many kindnesses we have experienced as well. This is a daunting situation and it’s hard to wake up each morning knowing what we are faced with but we have to keep pushing through."
