My dad, Darren Fair is 48 years old. He's a personal trainer in Prosper, Texas, and is the healthiest guy I know (Seriously, he hasn't eaten red meat in who knows how long). However, this past Sunday (April 19th) he suffered a heart attack, and was put in the hospital. As healthy as he is, it's been a shock to all of us in our family.
This morning, he underwent a heart catheterization, and the results showed that he has disease covering the 3 major arteries in his heart, with almost a 90% blockage in each artery. The cardiologist told us today with those results, dad will have to undergo a quadruple heart bypass later this week. Huge news, and we are pretty worried about the surgery. However, we know that God is watching over Dad and our family, and everything will be ok.
The bigger problem at hand, is more financial than heart-related. Earlier this year, my Dad dropped his own health insurance coverage so he could provide me with health care coverage. At that time, he had already been sacrificing a lot by paying for me to go to Oklahoma Christian University.
Currently, he has no health insurance, is self employed, pays for my schooling. Along with his wife, he cares for his step-daughters, one at Texas Tech and the other entering high school next fall.
If you know anything about time spent in the hospital for any kind of procedure or surgery, they come with HUGE bills. It's my worry that because my father doesn't have health insurance, this will put him in debt, on top of already taking care of all these other things.
We need help. I ask that if you have it in your heart to help my father, it would be greatly appreciated. This man has blessed my life for 21 years. If there is a chance I can give back to him for what he's done for me, I'm hoping this is my opportunity. I would love your help in the process. Our intitial goal is 10,000 dollars, but we are seriously thankful for whatever we are able to raise.
No matter what, we would be extremely grateful for all of your prayers.
Sincerely,
-Braeden
