Darren’s Fight Against Terminal Bowel Cancer

Hello, my name is Kate, and I’m raising funds for my husband, Darren.
In May, Darren underwent what we were told was a successful operation to remove a tumour from his colon. He then went through chemotherapy, and for a while, we truly believed the worst was behind us. We allowed ourselves to hope that this chapter was coming to an end and that we could begin rebuilding our lives.
Sadly, in December, Darren began experiencing severe pain. Further scans revealed devastating news — the cancer has now spread to the peritoneum and his liver. Darren has since been diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer, a diagnosis that has turned our world upside down.
Darren is currently undergoing further chemotherapy, which is physically and emotionally exhausting, but he remains determined to keep fighting. Alongside this, he wants to explore alternative and complementary treatments in the hope of improving his quality of life and giving us more precious time together.
Darren is a devoted dad to his two children, Kaine and Asha, who mean absolutely everything to him. He wants nothing more than to continue being there for them — creating memories, sharing milestones, and simply being their dad for as long as possible. This year, Darren is also due to turn 50, a milestone birthday we once imagined celebrating very differently.
Unfortunately, the alternative and complementary treatments Darren wants to try are not available on the NHS and come with significant costs. Between private consultations, therapies, supplements, travel, and ongoing care, the financial pressure has become overwhelming on top of everything else we are facing.
We are not asking for miracles — just support. Support to give Darren choices. Support to help him feel stronger, more comfortable, and more hopeful. Support to allow us to focus on being a family, rather than constantly worrying about money.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards:
• Alternative and complementary cancer treatments
• Private consultations and therapies
• Travel and related medical costs
• Supporting Darren alongside his ongoing chemotherapy
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your kindness, and for standing with us during the hardest chapter of our lives.
With love and gratitude,
Kate ❤️
