Darren Koontz Fundraiser

I’m Darren’s mom, and I’m reaching out on his behalf to ask for financial help.

Darren is our 47-year-old son. He is a proud and loving father of 3 amazing kids. Last summer, Darren was diagnosed with “Advanced Adenocarcinoma,” stage 4 of the esophagus and stomach. This is an extremely aggressive cancer with only a 26% chance of survival. He is fighting a battle for his life and to be here for his children! Like any father, Darren wants to be able to fish with his sons and walk his beautiful 3-year-old daughter down the aisle someday. In order to do that, Darren needs life-saving Chemotherapy, Radiation, Surgery, and other lifesaving medical Care.

Darren has not been able to work for 5 months and has run out of funds to pay medical and household bills. He goes through 96 hours of chemo and immunotherapy every month, costing tens of thousands of dollars a month. On top of that, Darren is on a heavy and costly daily medication regime. He has been through radiation and may face another round. If Darren is lucky and the tumors shrink, they will do surgery in May to remove his tumors and reconstruct a new stomach and esophagus from his intestines. If the tumors have not shrunk enough to do surgery, he will go through more rounds of chemo and radiation through the summer and fall next year.

We, as parents, are doing what we can but certainly do not have the resources to cover thousands of dollars a month in medical and other expenses.

Without these treatments, Darren will not survive. While we do not have a crystal ball, we estimate that these bills could run over one hundred thousand dollars. He is out of funds and can no longer pay for his medical or basic household expenses.

As a mom, I’m asking you to please help me save my son's life. He needs financial help immediately to afford the necessary treatments to fight this terrible cancer so he can be here for his family.
