My name is Harry Tennant, and for those who know me, you may have gotten the pleasure of meeting my best mate Darren Hardy. It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our dear friend. Darren wasn’t just a mate—he was family. My family and I had the privilege of knowing Darren for over 15 years, and during that time, he became closer than many would even be to their own kin. we Gave him a life and purpose, which was something he lived most of his life without. He was a familiar face at our local business (Mitchell Irrigation) here in Seymour, and was always up for a chat and to pester you about his love for footy.
Darren had a difficult and poor upbringing, often misunderstood by those who only saw a rough exterior. He was a shy, private man who was simple and lived a simple life. Despite his struggles and disability, Darren was one of the kindest, most loving, and beautiful souls I have ever come across. He always put others before himself—his kindness, his selflessness, and his unwavering routine made him stand out in the best ways possible. He was always neat and tidy, and a man of quiet strength and integrity.
Darren didn’t have family of his own. His parents passed when he was young —no siblings, no children—just me, my close family, and the bond we shared was stronger than many blood-ties. Darren lived a life that many might overlook or misunderstand, but in truth, he was a pure, genuine person who brought light into our lives and the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
His passing has left an enormous void in our hearts. Darren was a source of energy and life—a reminder that kindness and humility matter most. We want to ensure he gets the proper farewell he deserves and honour his memory in a way that reflects the man he was.
I am reaching out to ask for your support. Any donation, big or small, will help cover funeral expenses and give the opportunity for those who had the pleasure of knowing him, to contribute and give back in some way.
To those who knew him, Darren will always be remembered for his gentle spirit and the love he showed to those in his life. For the many who never had the honour of meeting him, know that he was far more than any surface impression—he was a man who deserved respect, dignity, and a proper Life.
Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us honour Darren’s life in the way he truly deserves.
