Darren Grey Medical Expenses

I'm Corey Scearce, the son-in-law of Darren Grey. Darren was critically injured in a Motorcycle Accident while riding with his son Nicolas on Easter Sunday evening in the Lowgap Community. Nicolas called 911 and started CPR on Darren because he initially found him unconscious and not breathing. Darren was airlifted to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital after being treated on scene by Surry County EMS. As Darren was wearing full riding gear and a full-face helmet, he suffered many critical injuries. Darren sustained a minor head bleed, a severe concussion, a basilar skull fracture, multiple facial fractures (surgery required), a shoulder fracture, a T1 & T6 fracture, 8 rib fractures, a spleen laceration, a liver laceration, and an ankle fracture. Darren had surgery on Monday to repair his spleen and liver, and he remains in critical but stable condition in the Trauma ICU. On Thursday, we had a small step backward. Darren's oxygen saturations had dropped, and he had to be intubated. They are currently treating him for pneumonia, and he will be extubated in the next few days. The doctors seem very positive and indicate that Darren will make a full recovery. However, Darren and Victoria will be out of work for a significant amount of time as the road to a full recovery will be very long. All money raised will offset the cost of medical bills and other living expenses while they are out of work. Our whole family would like to thank everyone for phone calls, text messages, and visits.
