Early morning on October 11th around 2 am , Darren was in a bad that involved a deer coming out onto the road while he was trying to visit family. It occured on hwy 44 township road 604 . His youngest sister , Michelle called to make sure he was ok at 2 am because , he should of arrived by then . She finally got contact and he told her to call 911. She did so and made contact with ems as they were cutting him out of the vehicle. The family received a call at 5 am that he was finally admitted to the Royal Alexander hospital at 5 am where we all rushed to be with him. Anyone who has met Darren for a minute , a few years , or longer. Knows the absolute character he is. He has many friends , colleagues, family members that can tell you stories of laughter, hardship, and happiness that involve Darren. Hes never shied away from being a good friend , uncle , brother and son. The results of the accident are life-changing. Not only did he break his neck , he dislocated it as well. Which required emergency surgery. The outcome is paralysis from the chest down. The road of recovery is long and hard. Which is why we are reaching out for help. Darren always had a passion for fishing and being outdoors.
