Hello my name is Darrell Martin, I am 57 years old. I graduated from Hamilton High School in 1978 and I graduated from (Memphis State University) now known as the University of Memphis in 1983.
At the beginning of this year 2017 I started to have involuntary muscle spasms that would last for as long as 2 days and cause me to shake violently. I went to the doctors because my symptoms appeared as if I had a stroke. After numerous appointments, exams, medical test, procedures and various medications, I got progressively worst. I was finally told by my doctors they had no idea what was wrong with me.
During the last week of June, I arrived at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After numerous test, MRIs, CT Scans, Pet Scans,Spinal Tap and a Brain Biopsy where it was determined that I have a rare brain disease (JC Virus).
My team of doctors are optimistic that this new drug treatment can help contain and hopefully reverse this disease. My health insurance will not cover this treatment since it is new and only a few people have received this drug.
This Go Fund Me page was started since this new treatment is very expensive and cost $10,000 per treatment.
I am hoping that if enough people donate a small amount each, soon I will have enough money to receive the rest of the treatments. I would have an endless amount of heartfelt gratitude towards anyone who helps even a little bit. A small donation would help out immensely, or if you can't donate, please pass the link onto friends and family. It would help pay for medications so that I can get through my treatments and get back to working hard to achieve my dreams.
