Who you are:
My name is Darrell Best. I have lived here in South Carolina most of my life, but have traveled around to different states while I was in the Army. Going to college has allways been a dream of mine, even when my school teachers told me I would never make it at a university. Even though my family does not have money to help me to go to school, I did everything in my power to make it happen. I got the GI BIll, Pel Grant, Federal Student loans, Extra jobs, even going to a two year community college first before transfering to Clemson University. As of now I have been going to school for going on six years, but I am almost done! I have only five more classes before I graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science! Since I was not able to save enough money to go back to school this Fall semester, Im am trying everything in my power to get the money to go back this Spring and graduate in May.
Who (or what) you’re raising money for:
I am raising my to go back to school for my final semester. The money donated will go directly to the school to pay for tuition and fees. That is all.
How soon you need the funds:
The late enrollment for the Spring semester is January 9th and 10th, so my goal is to have what I need by then.
Why this means so much to you:
My entire life I have dreamed about this moment. Graduating college and getting a real job. This is the moment I have been building up for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I can remember I didnt want to be Fire Fighter or a Cowboy, I wanted to be a Scientist. The thought of it thrilled me. I did not know or care what kind of Scientist I would become, just that I wanted to be one. Now I am one semester away from making my dream come true!
How thankful you will be:
The amount of gratitude I could convey would never be enough to truly justify the thanksfullness I would feel. This would mean the world to me and more. I do not think I could ever get a more precious gift other than to have a child.
I have worked so hard to get where I am today. That is why I believe I should receive the scholarship! #GFMScholarship
