Darrell Wargo Medical and Recovery Expenses

Update: I am lowering the goal amount so I can get money to him quickly. We will, of course, keep it open after. Because he doesn't have insurance a lot of the things he will need to pay for will be coming straight out of his pocket.
Hi everyone, I am Dawn Wise with United Way of Central Virginia. Yesterday, on September 11th, 2020, our wonderful community friend, Darrell Wargo (who is also a long-time volunteer at United Way), had a pretty terrible injury on his foot which ended up with a bad sprain and laceration requiring stitches, while helping out with the Field of Honor event in Forest. After a long night in the ER, he is back home resting comfortably, but has a long road of recovery ahead of him. We are very thankful that he did not break anything, but he will have several orthopedic visits in the future.
Darrell does not have medical insurance, has no family in the area, and lives alone requiring him to rely on the good will of others. He also has an air cast on and is not comfortable driving. If you are close to him, you know this is something he has worried about happening for awhile, and the emotional strain is hard on him right now. Running is also his life and this injury on his foot is devastating to him right now.
We would like to raise money for the long road ahead of him, both emotional and physical, and to ease his journey as much as possible.
If you know Darrell, which many of you do, you know how he is selfless in all that he does, and he deserves to have this road be as easy as possible. We appreciate all that you can help with. If you cannot give monetarily, we are asking people to help with driving and food delivery, since he does not cook or eat at home.
We would like to raise this money as quickly as possible to get it to him as quickly as possible since he will need all the supports in the coming days.
