Darrell's Battle with AML

Darrell and Dana have made the decision to end intravenous chemotherapy due to the effects of acute renal failure and the possible need for dialysis, which Darrell would not be able to handle .  They have decided to live each day to the fullest and together with their sons at home.

We believe in the power of prayer, and we believe that you can make a difference for Darrell. Please pray! Pray for strength, for healing, for comfort, for love, for support, and for peace. We have faith in God's process and we believe in extraordinary healing!

 

We have set up this fundraiser to help Darrell and his family with expenses that he will encounter during this journey. Not only is this diagnosis devastating to him and his family, but the decrease of income during this journey is going to be overwhelming.

 

Darrell does have health insurance; however some of his co pays have been as high as $350.00. The family’s savings have been depleted since first being dianosed.  The medical costs have; and will continue to, add up very quick. The cost of all the known and the unknowns during this time, will quickly become overwhelming and cause unnecessary stress on his weakened body.

Dana is struggling to find a balance of wanting to be
with Darrell day end and day out, being a successful nurse at a local family health clinic and being a devoted mother their two sons. She has taken FMLA leave as needed, but this has decreased her monthly income as well.

We know God will be calling Darrell home soon, and this fundraiser will help Dana with Darrell's final expenses as well as give them a little help with his immediate needs. 

We wanted to try and relieve some of the pressure of this unfortunate diagnosis by starting this fundraiser. In order to do that, we would like to ask for your help. It's hard to ask for someone for help, it's hard to ask someone for money (especially money that you haven't earned), it's hard to ask someone to give something that they may not have themselves, and it’s hard to let down your guard. But ultimately; it is tougher to watch our friend suffer, and then still worry about how his family will financially get through.

To date, Darrell has received 60 units of blood and 27 units of platelets. If you cannot help financially, maybe consider becoming a donor to the local Red Cross.
