Darrell Daugherty quickly passed away from this world on Monday, Fourth of July. Friends and family near and far are extremely saddened by his sudden loss.  He had been in the hospital for over three weeks with Covid Pneumonia.

He was my father, and he loved his family dearly. Darrell Ray Daugherty was born on May 18, 1946 in Tennessee. He resided in Atlanta, GA from 1981 until 2022. Darrell is survived by his sister Margie Bowers of Englewood, TN, Faye (Jo Ben) Kincaid of Etowah, TN, and so many wonderful nieces and nephews. His passing was preceded by his parents James Carl and Ila Maude Daugherty; sisters Hazel (Leonard) Derrick, Sandy Blankenship, and Joyce Crisp; his niece Cheryl Bowers; and his nephew Kevin Crisp preceded his death. He had previously been married for about 20 years and kept in contact with me (his daughter- April Scheivelhud) throughout the years.

Follow me for a moment on Memory Lane. Darrell didn’t know a stranger.  He had a witty, hilarious remark to so many everyday conversations. Friends and family of Darrell often share warm memories of him taking them places like The World Series in the 1990’s, fancy Atlanta restaurants, fun-filled beach trips, and theme parks such as Disney World. We’ll always cherish those warm memories of laughter and love!

My dad would’ve liked to be remembered for his many passions during  his  lifetime. He was a huge Tennessee Vols fan- “Go Big Orange!” We had been to many games in Knoxville, TN during the 1980’s. Shortly after he graduated from Englewood high school in 1964, he served in the Air Force National Guard. My dad made his way up to sergeant during his years of service. While living in Cleveland, TN, he worked for Hardwick Stove and Athens Stove Company. In 1981, he received a promotion to become a freight salesman  for Smith Transfer in Atlanta, Georgia. He transplanted his family to the big city and quickly became the #1 regional salesman! Later, he moved on to an entrepreneurship in the freight brokerage business. He co-owned Tri Star Transportation in Kennesaw, Georgia in the 1990’s. At his time of death, he had been retired for a while and was working with some friends in a catering company.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have his affairs in order to have a power of attorney in place in the event of his passing away. This memorial fundraiser is to help cover the costs of his cremation and burial service. Our family is working on coming up with a later date for a celebration of life.

Thank you so much to the many beautiful souls who have called or messaged to send your love and prayers! ❤️. We appreciate any size donation - every little bit helps - to help cover the sudden costs of Darrell’s cremation and memorial service. Much Love! April Scheivelhud
