Darrell Cherry's Stiff Person Syndrome Treatment

Hello. My name is Jaki Welch and I'm helping my friend Darrell Cherry raise money to help him and his family as they move through what will be a very challenging time. He was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) in 2020 and has seen a steep decline in his physical capabilities since that time. Celine Dion has recently announced that she too has this very rare auto-immune disorder that only affects 1 in 1 million people.

He is beyond blessed to have been chosen for an advanced clinical trial that will begin in February and involves transplanting stem cells. He'll be staying in treatment and away from his family in Seattle for the entirety of the trial. This means he cannot work and help support his family. Physically and emotionally, this will be very hard for them. Financially, I'm hoping to take some of the pressure off both him and his wife Erica to help pay for living expenses, travel expenses and his treatment. I'm hoping this effort will allow them the ability to concentrate on getting him healthy without fearing the financial repercussions this life-saving treatment could bring.

Darrell is a husband, a father to 4 beautiful children, a grandfather, and a wonderful friend. Prior to his diagnosis, he spent his adult life working in the fitness industry, he enjoyed a very active lifestyle, enjoyed singing and dancing in local theater productions and became a published author. After his diagnosis, he has continued to educate and entertain with his blog posts on his website thestiffman.com. I'm looking forward to the day that Darrell gets to return to the people, activities, and life that he so deeply loves.
