Hi Friends and Family... We are Wendy's sisters: Kim Gee, Candace Cromwell, and Tammy Waterhouse. We are Danielle Veliz's aunts and Wendy Staff's sisters. After several requests of "Where can I donate to help?" we are setting up this "gofundme" account to give those who want to help a place they can support Danielle (13), her brother Joey (15), and Wendy, in the long road to recovery from a traumatic brain injury. Here is their story...
On Monday, February 8th my 13 year old niece, Danielle, was in a catastrophic car accident in Yakima, WA. She was the passenger in a car that was t-boned on her side causing serious injury. She was airlifted to Harborview Hospital in Seattle with life threatening injuries. She is in pediatric ICU being treated for a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, broken pelvis, collapsed lung, and cervical injury.
As of Thursday, February 11th the brain bleed has stablized, she is still not awake, still intubated, and responding to pinches but unresponsive to commands. Brain damage is hard to evaluate until she is awake and able to be more thoroughly assessed...as of now they say there will be some brain damage and the recovery may take awhile...it is alot of "wait and see..."
Danielle has worked hard to grow and challenge herself in life and her faith... she wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. She is a funny, caring, talented young lady involved in school and church leadership...We want to see her go back to those positions and fulfill her dreams...
Wendy is a single mom of three who has been through a lot and never given up and now uses her experiences to help others through Love, Inc. Just last week Wendy was informed on April 1st she will lose a large portion of her income and go back out into the job market after 3 years. We (her family & friends) want to make sure all she needs to worry about is caring for her family and Danielle's recovery...which may very well to take months in Seattle.
Money raised will go directly to helping Wendy support her family with rent, food, living expenses in Seattle, and in Yakima plus assist in Danielle's recovery and any medical expenses not covered by insurance (still a big unknown).
There are no words to express our gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers...this amazing support is overwhelming and so, so, so appreciated. Thank you so much for all the prayers, love, and support...
